28 Jul 2026
SAI International School marked the grand inauguration of the 14th edition of the SAI Model United Nations (SAIMUN) 2026, bringing together more than 650 delegates from 14 countries and 23 schools for one of Eastern India's largest international Model United Nations conferences. The Opening Ceremony celebrated fourteen years of empowering young minds through diplomacy, dialogue, and global collaboration.
The ceremony was graced by Dr. Andrew Fleming, British Deputy High Commissioner, as the Guest. Addressing the gathering, he encouraged students to embrace negotiation, listening and empathy as the foundations of responsible global leadership.
Welcoming the delegates, Dr. Silpi Sahoo, Chairperson, SAI International Education Group, reflected on the visionary legacy of Founder Late Dr. Bijaya Kumar Sahoo, whose dream of creating a platform that nurtures compassionate, globally conscious leaders continues to inspire generations. She urged delegates to make the most of the opportunity by engaging in meaningful conversations that have the power to shape a better future.
Delegates representing countries including Liberia, South Sudan, Uganda, Eswatini, Cameroon, Zimbabwe, Nigeria, Libya, Madagascar, Syria, Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and India came together to deliberate on pressing global challenges through eleven dynamic committees. The conference provides an immersive platform for students to strengthen their critical thinking, negotiation, public speaking, and leadership skills while promoting intercultural understanding.
As committee sessions commence, SAIMUN 2026 continues to uphold the timeless philosophy of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam - One World, One Family, inspiring young leaders to engage with empathy, think critically, and contribute meaningfully towards building a more peaceful and inclusive world.
