At SAI International we believe that marking International Days is a great way of bringing the global perspective to life in the classroom and engaging students with issues that affect people across the globe.
INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY
She is beautiful, she is smart, she is kind, she is unique, she is caring, she is worthy of love and affection, she is always enough, she is precious, she is the most stunning of god’s all creations, she is awesome, yes she is a WOMAN. Her essence can never be captured in words and her love remains unmatched and eternal. Applauding, cheering, thanking and saluting each and every woman, SAI International celebrates International Women’s Day each year with sincerity and gratitude. In a special assembly held to mark the importance of the day, students present a skit on the multi faceted role a woman plays and depict the women of changing India. Women have made a name for themselves in every field of the contemporary world like medicine, leadership, politics, education, entrepreneurship, sports and performing arts and we salute their spirit.
INTERNATIONAL DAY OF SERVICE
At SAI International, the students recognize that the privilege of a good education comes with a responsibility to help others and it is one of the prime reasons that observing International Day of Service is an integral part of the ethos of the school. This day focuses not only on students providing service to the community and to the marginalized, but also gives our students the chance to learn about human values of compassion, empathy, mutual respect and tolerance. Every year the students render their selfless service to the marginalised students and gift them a day of fun learning at SAI International School campus which extended to them the experience of being a SAIoneer, making them feel inclusive and cherished. The day begins with a special assembly at the Indraprastha Auditorium of the school, where the students are given a platform to showcase their beautiful talents. Interesting activities that energize the minds and bodies like yoga, aerobics, asanas, swimming are included to give the students a time of undiluted fun. An interactive session is held for the students to share their experience and stories with the SAIoneers.
INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY
A journey of spiritual, mental and physical well-being: International Yoga Day is celebrated in SAI International School premises every year. Acknowledged universally as a lifestyle and an ideal way of living, Yoga has been practiced for thousands of years in India, and later accepted world over for general well being and spiritual advancement. Highly recommended for all, especially students across all age groups, its immense benefits are known to bring peace and emotional balance in individuals if practiced regularly. Also known for its far-reaching benefits to alleviate stress, apart from relaxing a tired mind and body and reinvigorating the thought towards being positive, it is believed to help in enhancing memory. Increasing flexibility, strength, balance and endurance are just a few of the innumerable benefits of yoga. SAI International School has adopted it in its co curricular process since its inception. An invigorating session on Yoga with insightful facts and practice sittings for students and the teachers is organized on this special day, which has been recognized by the UN from this year and is seen as a great way to bring about qualitative changes in the lives of citizens universally. Starting with a prayer, and some warm up exercises the session demonstartes and practices some special asaanas including Tadasana, Vajrasana, Vakrasana, Savasana, practice of Pranayam, followed by Dhyana.
WORLD POETRY DAY & WORLD WATER DAY
The students of SAI International School are nurtured to be comprehensive citizens who have the ability to think globally and act locally. Internationalism is an important dimension of our School ethos and hence we observe and celebrate the International Days with sincerity and enthusiasm. World Poetry Day is observed by honoring the American children’s poet, author and singer/ song writer Shel Silverstien. Students use props and enjoy putting their acting talents to the test.
World Water Day, as identified by the UN, is for water and energy. The students, through their presentation, attempt to raise awareness of the inter-linkages between water and energy and on the importance of utilizing this life giving resource effectively. A skit is performed that focuses on a broad range of issues related to the nexus of water and energy and concluded with the message of “Save Water”.
INTERNATIONAL YOUTH DAY
SAI International celebrates International Youth Day with full fervor every year, where the SAIoneers take on various themes like anti – smoking, anti – ragging etc. The students aim at spreading awareness among the people at large, to refrain from activities that can harm the dignity of an individual. The School Band brings in a lot of excitement with its wonderful and well rehearsed ensemble. Such campaigns are much appreciated by the people and they cheer for the SAIoneers. Youth can undoubtedly be change makers in thrust areas like promotion of national values, social harmony, national unity, education, health, sports and recreation, gender justice, participation in community service, environment and climate change issues, and the national & local government. Hence the United Nations started the observation of International Youth Day in the year 2000 to address the issues concerning the youth because youth is truly the hope of our future.
INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PEACE
Peace is a pre-cursor to a joyful and meaningful existence. When mankind works towards bringing in peace and harmony, happiness is sure to prevail. At SAI International School, it is our endeavor to create a generation that will foster peace in this world. To sensitize students in this regard, we observe the International Day of Peace each year. The young SAIoneers spread their messages of peace and harmony by hanging peace doves throughout the campus. They also work on creating peace bulletin boards, each displaying what peace means to them. The SAI family takes a peace pledge to bring in love and make this world beautiful. SAI International School is also the only School from India to be a part of the Kids for Peace Chapter. It is a global nonprofit organization that provides a platform for young people, to actively engage in socially conscious leadership, community service, arts, environmental stewardship and global friendship. Kids for Peace have launched over 100 interconnected chapters around the world. Through Kids for Peace projects and programs, youth of all socioeconomic backgrounds are empowered to become part of positive solutions, leading to a healthy and harmonious planet.
Bastille’s Day is celebrated each year where the students are briefed about the French Revolution through a skit and dance performance by the young SAIoneers. Appreciating the effort of the students to spread the message of Bastille’s Day, it is emphasised that such a day is an apt example of misconnect between rulers and people.
