Horse riding is a great form of exercise which has both cardiovascular and muscle conditioning benefits. Although it may seem as though the rider is not engaging in any physical exercise, an hour’s activity can condition the body and strengthen the muscles.
Horse riding is recognized as having excellent therapeutic qualities. The psychological benefits can be of equal importance to riders as the physical benefits. Simply being outdoors and enjoying the ride on an open field boosts the general well-being and acts as a great stress buster. There is a real sense of exhalation and freedom when you ride, a feeling that is second to none. Furthermore, developing a relationship and sense of trust between the students and another living being is highly rewarding. We believe that when students learn to control and care for an animal much larger than themselves, it can have a profound effect on their confidence and is a great feeling.
It is in the early years of life that one can let go of fears and inhibitions and hence to encourage our students in some of the native sports of our country, we have incorporated horse riding in our sports curriculum. Three horses under the expert training of our trainers can be seen in the SAI campus and are very much the cherished part of the SAI family.
