In the yogic context, meditation or dhyana is defined more specifically as a state of pure consciousness. The last three limbs dharana (concentration), dhyana (meditation), and samadhi (trance) are inextricably linked and collectively referred to as samyama, the inner practice, or subtle discipline, of the yogic path. Yogic Meditation is the disciplining of the mind until it becomes still. Although it is not something you can learn to do in a day, the feeling of well-being and peace it creates is worth the time and commitment required. Meditation is the preeminent classical means of strengthening the soul, opening the heart, entering the spirit, and serving mankind.
Yoga & Meditation at SAI Interntional School is holistic, in that it not only deals systematically with all levels, but also involves a broad range of practices, including meditation, contemplation, prayer, and mantra, as well as the preparatory practices leading up to these. Yoga & Meditation also explores all of the levels of reality and self-construction, including the gross (vaishvanara), subtle (taijasa), causal (prajna), and the absolute (turiya), as reflected in OM Mantra. Finally, Yoga & Meditation leads one to the direct experience of the absolute, pure, eternal center of consciousness.
There are four approaches to attaining the purpose of life: the school of prayer, the school of contemplation, the school of meditation, and that of selfless action. At SAI, we systematically explain these schools so that the children understand the differences between them and, according to their own choice and capacity, they can follow one of the schools and finally attain the goal of life.
Rhythm, both in and out of the classroom, promotes physical wellbeing and social understanding and helps us to build bridges within local and global communities.
Music is the universal language of mankind which expresses emotions through the medium of sound.
Our belief is that music as a part of the school curriculum can help build skills of coordination and creativity. Rhythm in music and dance, initiates rhythm in a student’s life. Music and dance nurtures the human spirit, promotes personal development and is central to the learning and the creative process.
